Five Minute Free Writes – Every week I join a special group of writers to write for FIVE MINUTES. No editing. No revising. Just WRITE. Each week the prompt is revealed Thursday evening. You can find more information here.
This week we could pick our prompt. SO mine is: RUN
Run the race set before you. Run. Keeping on running. The Christian life is described as a race. A race we run. But not a sprint, a marathon. We do not just exert ourselves to the point of collapse after the first mile. We pace ourselves. We run slowly. Steadily. Sometimes we misstep. Fall. Or sometimes we stop. But instead, we should just keep running.
The waiting periods in my life seem like a sitting still. I never felt like I was running the race, or even in the race, when I was waiting during the adoption. But God showed me that even in the waiting we still move forward. God was still working. Behind the scenes.
So in 2016 I feel God leading me to the word: RUN. I want to keep working (and resting) in 2016. I have some solid goals this year. Some steps to take that may lead to course changers. I want to stay in the race. Even though I was thinking God would lead to a word for 2016 that would be more like “hope” or “trust” or “believe” – I find that He keeps whispering : “run” – Run. Keep going. Don’t give up.
I see 2016 as a year of hope, yes. But a year walking (and running) in hope. I see 2016 as a year to trust and believe e- but isn’t that what the life’s race is about? We trust when we fall. We still believe when the path before us is dark and full of shadows.
So 2016 seems to be a year of running. A year of going forward. Moving. Not a giving up or procrastinate on things I’ve talked about or dreamed about for years. Run. Run my race. The race He has led ME to. Focus on my footing. Trusting He is running with me.
Unlike real races, I don’t run this one alone….
