Count to 9 – Dealing With Mommy Anger

Count to Nine

I’m so excited to have Ruthie Gray, from Rear. Release. Regroup. She is a wonderful mentor for young moms. If you are looking for good (practical!) advice from a woman who has walked your road…..check out her website!

You’ve done it again – erupted all over your kids and husband, and maybe even the dog. You’re so done with this behavior, and after all, there is such thing as righteous indignation! Doesn’t the verse say, “Be angry” (Ephesians 4:26)?! That alone confirms that anger is natural and necessary to propel us into fighting against wrong-doing!

Well…yes and no. Yes, anger at wrong behavior is necessary to propel us to fight for what is right.

No – to erupting all over the fam (anger turned to wrath). (The rest of Ephesians 4:26 says “and sin not”.)

“Well, I just can’t help it. Their behavior is inexcusable and I’m literally at the end of my rope, plus I’m exhausted from CLEANING UP AFTER EVERYONE 24/7!!!”

I know. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.

Still doesn’t make it right. You know you feel terrible after screaming up a lung and destroying everyone in your path.

That’s anger gone wrong.

Here’s the good news: YES YOU CAN.

You see, the reason we think anything is beyond our reach is due to our unbelief; dismissal that it’s even possible. And if we don’t believe God can change our behavior, then that means we don’t have a correct view of God. We have a small view of Him.

Remember the crazy lunatic who roamed the graveyard and broke the chains that bound him in Mark 5? This guy was uncontrollable. No one could do anything with him. His demon-possession lead others to believe all hope was lost.

But when Jesus got off that boat with his disciples and saw him, he commanded the unclean spirits to come out of him. It wasn’t without a fight, because there were many. But Jesus solved the problem by transferring them to pigs, who ran down the mountain into the ocean and committed “Suey-cide”. (Ba-dump-pump.)

The people were amazed to see this guy with clothes on, talking rationally. In fact—they were so spooked (and angry about the pigs), they made Jesus leave town!

Anger, left unchecked, can do irreparable damage.

BUT – we have a God Who is Greater, Kinder, Stronger.

He provides a way of escape!  But you must believe. Faith is the key to unlock this door.

“Go ahead and be angry.  You do well to be angry—but don’t use your anger as fuel for revenge.  And don’t stay angry.  Don’t go to bed angry.  Don’t give the Devil that kind of foothold in your life.”  Ephesians 4:26-27, The Message

Are you ready to step up to the plate today and use your faith to keep from blowing your stack?

My new book, Count to Nine, 9 Liberating Steps for Mom Anger and Frustration, presents nine essential steps to overcome anger.  Offering action verses, Scripture prayers, and a plan of action for each chapter, this book will set you on the road towards recovery.   The book is full of key Biblical strategies to help you parent gracefully and learn the Biblical approach to anger.

How do I know?  I teach this method to a group of moms, and they are seeing wins and overcoming their anger by squashing the power of unbelief!

At just $7.00, this book is a small investment to make toward a big difference in the dynamic of your family.  Are you ready to take the necessary steps to freedom from unbelief that God can’t control your anger?

You can do this mom.  Knock unbelief on its side and let God use your faith for transformation!  I’m praying for you!

It was not an accident I was asked to review Ruthie’s new book. I’ve found my frustration level has risen over these past few weeks. My husband has been working a longer days and mine are filled with appointments and sports. I basically single-parent for half of the time. My exhaustion was coming out in my tone and attitude towards my children. Let’s just say I’ve been less than kind. As I read through Ruthie’s book again, I was encouraged and inspired. I was shown Biblical advice on how to deal with my anger. She even included prayers and action steps I could take right now to deal with my attitude.

I cannot recommend this book enough.  It is short and super easy to read. It only takes a few minutes to read each chapter. Maybe fifteen minutes total each day if you answered the questions and spent time in prayer.  I love the prayers at the end of each chapter. So, go check out Ruthie’s new book!

  1. This is a topic near and dear to my heart. I hate those days when the anger would erupt and turn to wrath. Not an okay place to find yourself! God has been working on my heart for years about this and I’m finally taking the steps to follow. I always knew it wasn’t how I wanted to parent but I seemed to default to it constantly. Thank you for offering advice and encouragement about this!
