Abiding in Grace

How We Can Blossom in the Desert

April 24, 2019 / Faith

{taken from my devotional, Lessons in the Desert}

How Do We Blossom in the Desert?

Many plants in the desert lay dormant for years before they spring up out of the sand. Waiting for water, they bury themselves underground and develop deep, strong roots. These roots are needed to dig down for the water during the dry season. As soon as water makes its way to the plant, they blossom!

Our desert seasons may look dry without growth. However, as we stay close to God, dig into His word, and spend time in prayer we grow  our own deep, strong roots. In God’s perfect timing, we may even see the blossoms spring up!

As you have seen, even in the desert we can taste the sweetness of God as we walk toward Him in prayer and His word. Daily you  can fill your heart with His living truth so that your darkness is not dark anymore. You can remember that God is near to your broken heart. God will remind you that He is enough for today. He will comfort you  as you reach out and serve others.

The biggest lesson you and I can learn in our desert season is that God is faithful.  Knowing God’s character is  vital to blossoming in the desert. Continue to look to God during your desert season and you will blossom.

Meet Sarah
Welcome! I invite you to walk alongside me as we study deep the words of God, even in our busy seasons. I’ve learned in every season we can find joy and contentment when we spend time in the Bible. Every day I’m learning to go into my quiet space and spend a little time with God in prayer. God is ready to pour into us. Let’s do this together!
