How We Know God’s Word Is Trustworthy

How We Know God’s Word Is Trustworthy

Have you ever been betrayed by someone? I think we’ve all been there. I remember being betrayed by close friends in my early twenties. I was an adult, married, with a little baby. These things didn’t happen to me now, right? I wasn’t in high school anymore. But I was betrayed. Lied about and hurt deeply.

In our deepest hurts we sometimes hold on to the lies the enemy whispers: We can’t trust anyone. The trouble comes when we put those lies onto the Word of God. Our world, with the enemy at the reigns, would like nothing more than for us to doubt God’s Word. We hear things like, “It was written by old white men with political agendas.” Only these words on the pages of the Bible are not just from men. They are from God’s amazing heart to us.

In the deepest parts of our hearts we have all doubted. Doubt isn’t wrong, it is what we do when the doubts come that matters. People in the Bible doubted. Job doubted. Habakuk doubted. Thomas doubted. The doubts will come when life is hard, but it doesn’t have to end there. We can go to God’s Word and choose not to believe the doubts.

Feelings can’t be trusted. So instead of leaning into what we feel we can lean into what we know. If we begin to doubt the Bible, how can we trust the God of the Bible? We must believe the Bible because it is the foundation of our faith in God! The next few weeks I’d like to remind you WHY we can trust God’s word. Each lesson will be from my study, 12 Days in the Psalms which you can download here. In this study we read twelve different verses in the Book of Psalms to discover why we can trust God’s Word.

The words of the Lord are pure words,

Like silver tried in a furnace of earth,

Purified seven times.

Psalm 12:6

God’s word is pure. That means it is NOT corrupt. It is pure. Like fine gold, clear water, and a perfect diamond. God’s word contains no errors. Can you imagine if the Bible did have errors? We couldn’t trust it. But it is error-free. Just like God, there are no mistakes in the Bible. Because of this, we can trust it. God’s word is pure, unsoiled by falsehoods. We can CHOOSE to trust God’s Word!

The Bible is trustworthy.
