A Bible Reading Plan for Direction

A Bible Reading Plan for Direction

What’s next? I think we have all asked this question in the past year (2020). There is no “right” choice for so many unknowns right now. The year is almost over and we are struggling with questions that litter our minds:

Who do I vote for?

Why is cancer so harsh?

What is the next thing coming?

How do I teach my children?

Who is right when it comes to racial tensions?

I want to say I have the answers to those questions for myself, but I really don’t. I choose the best choice and try to trust God to guide me. How do we do this? I want to say read your Bible, but let’s be honest: God’s word doesn’t tell us who to vote for! Whether we should homeschool, send our kids to school, or do remote learning is not written anywhere in the Bible. Yes, people will say God’s word says “vote for this person” and “teach your children this way.” It just isn’t that simple. God’s word doesn’t spell it out for everyone, but can I offer some hope?

God’s word can guide us. And when we are in God’s Word, learning, reading, and praying, we find He does give us guidance! I don’t know how it works, but when I pray for wisdom for a specific situation, suddenly I have it. Not always and I’m not always perfect about applying my wisdom, but God has never NOT given me wisdom when I have asked for it.

So when I say there is no “simple” answer what I mean is there is no easy answer. Because simply put, a right relationship with God – one that is growing and flourishing – will produce good decision making. I can think of poor choices I’ve made in my life and most of those were because my relationship with God was not where it needed to be.

So if you are struggling to make decisions, take a step back and look at your relationship with the Lord. Not so you can have answers, but so you can have wisdom. I’ve created a reading plan on decision making. My goal was not to provide “answers” for you, but to show you how a right relationship with God can help you make good choices!

So download the plan here and trust God to lead you. He will! Do you have a friend who struggles with making decisions? Download this plan for her! Is she tired and worn and just confused? Print two copies of this reading plan and do it together. Keep each other accountable and let you both remind each other of God’s truth.
