Books I Read in March 2024

Books I Read in March 2024

Each month I love to share with you what I’m reading. Although I love reading the Bible, I read other books too! I read a combination of fiction and nonfiction. I read poetry, fiction, nonfiction, horror (sometimes), and our family is especially fond of listening to audiobooks in the car!

As a way to help me keep track of what I read each month I’ll be making this list and linking to those books on Amazon. I am also excited to utilize Goodreads. Find me here and follow me to get a more up to date list of what I’m currently reading and have read.

Click here and request to be my friend! I’ll add you!

You can read what I reviewed in February 2024 and January 2024

For these posts I provide an honest review of those books and if It is less than three stars, I won’t link it! I’ve read plenty of books I wouldn’t recommend so I want to keep track of those books as well. Some of these books I might have started last month and finished this month.

Another side note is that for January, February, and March I am attempting to read the entire Bible – in 90 days! This has taken a lot of my reading time, so in the coming months I should have more books each month.

90 Day Bible Reading Challenge by Mary DeMuth

⭐⭐⭐

From the back of the book:

If your time in the Bible has felt tedious and you are longing to revitalize your faith, the 90-Day Bible Reading Challenge is here to help. With this book as your guide, you can grow your faith in ways you never have before by reading the Bible for the next 90 days–cover to cover. It may sound impossible, but it’s absolutely not. Having briskly read through the Bible for years, author Mary DeMuth knows the profound impact this spiritual reset can have.

My review:

Highly recommend this Bible reading plan! I will say I didn’t read every single day of the devotional, but I did read the Bible reading plan. It was amazing to read through the entire Bible in around 90 days. It did take me a few days longer because I got sick on the last week. I also didn’t read all of the Bible but I did listen to the Bible being read aloud – which I think still counts! Reading the Bible in such a short time allowed me to make connections that I hadn’t seen before. I am even more convinced that the Bible is one big story and it is one that is the most beautiful and life changing story ever. Because it’s true.

How to Walk Into a Room by Emily P. Freeman

⭐⭐⭐

From the back of the book:

If life were a house, then every room holds a story. What do we do when a room we’re in is no longer a room where we belong? What do you do when you start to feel a shift and must decide if it’s time to make a change? When it comes to navigating big decisions about when to stay and go, how can we know for sure when the time is right? Though we enter and exit many rooms over the course of our life—jobs, relationships, communities, life stages—knowing how and when it’s time to leave is a decision that rarely has a clear answer.

My review:

Although I love and adore Emily, I need to provide an honest review of her book. Although a spiritual book, this is not a Biblical book. Emily does not draw information or insights from Biblical sources. It is my deepest belief that the Bible truly does have an answer for every one of life’s problems. However, I still found this book incredibly helpful.  Emily has so much wisdom and insight and personal experience about when to leave and when to stay. If you are wondering if you should go or stay, I would recommend reading this book. So much of what she said, although not overtly Biblical, does draw from truths I have found in Scripture.

The Beatryce Prophecy by Kate DiCamillo (Audio)

⭐⭐⭐⭐

From the back of the book:

A magical medieval tale from two masters, Newbery Medal-winning Kate DiCamillo and Caldecott Medal-winning Sophie Blackall – a fantastical meditation on fate, love and the power of words to spell the world. We shall all, in the end, be led to where we belong. We shall all, in the end, find our way home.

My review:

Fantastic children’s book! One of the things I love to do in the car with my children is listen to audio books. This was our latest audiobook we enjoyed together. I can’t tell you how much we all loved this book. There was a lot of sadness but also a fun, exciting mystery. We loved Jack Dory and Beatryce and especially the goat! This made me weep at several places and I love when children’s books do that. It is about love, family – both the family we choose and the family we don’t choose. It is about beauty and did I mention the goat?
