Hi! I’m joining the Five Minute Friday community again. Every week a group of writers gathers together as we exercise with free-writing. It has become more than just a link-up, but a community!
Read about Five Minute Friday here. Today’s prompt is: IF
If was…… Fill in the blank. If is a powerful word. I think of the passage in Acts when Paul is speaking to King Agrippa and the majestic ruler of the Jewish nation says: You almost connived me to become a Christian. What was his “if”? If Paul was more eloquent? If Paul had made the Gospel more appealing? If the Christian’s weren’t outcasts?
Most people who reject Christ have an if down in their hearts. If God didn’t allow….. If this hadn’t happened….. If this would happen….
The word if is a possibility. Not a reality.
Our fears are governed by if, aren’t they?
And when we let our fears rule over our lives, we are trapped in a prison of bitterness, anger, frustration, anxiety, and depression. God came to set us free! Amen!
Our fears are not based in reality – they are all based in the little word “if” – and so God came to say, no matter what
- I am bigger.
- I am stronger.
- I love you more.
And we can battle almost any “if” with a belief in the God of the Bible. The more I read, the more I live, and the more I learn about this God, my ifs are washed away with His character.
What if my children die? – – – God loves them more than me.
What if my husband loses his job? – – – God is my provider.
What if I get sick? – – – God will be my healer.
Everything I fear can be fought with faith in the Father.
