Remembering God’s Faithfulness
If I don’t write it down I will forget. It doesn’t matter if I need to call the dentist, write an article, or simply do laundry. My to-do list with notes goes on and on. The calendar on my phone has random appointments like: “Deadline for….” and “Call Mandy about….” With five kids, a husband who works long hours, and all of the other responsibilities, I find it impossible to remember everything.
Don’t get me wrong, things still fall through the cracks. I still find myself missing appointments, writing down the wrong times, or simply forgetting all together! Remembering is hard. So when it comes to God’s truth, it is almost impossible to remember everything.

I think that’s why so many passages in the Bible have the phrase, “remember…” I did a quick word search in the CSB version and there are over 200 times the word “remember” is mentioned. 180 of those times occur in the Old Testament.
Our small group class is reading and studying the book of Judges. In this book we see a cycle of sin, suffering, crying out to God, and then rescue. But it continues after the rescue – the people sin again. Do you want to know the main reason they keep sinning?
They forget.
You and I forget. We forget so much about God that our fear, anxiety, and sadness leads us down paths of despair. As I’ve shared before, our family has walked through some deep sadness the past few months, but in those moments sadness threatens to overcome my heart, I’ve tried to practice remembering.
As we go about our days, normal, ordinary days, it is important we get into the habit of remembering. It isn’t hard, in fact, we don’t have a lot to remember and the Bible helps us. We remember:
- Who God is.Â
- What God has done (and promises to do).Â
It is ok if you forget. I do as well. That is why this life with God is daily. No matter what we face, we can remember God’s goodness. A psalm I go back to over and over again is Psalm 103.
The Book of Psalms has 46 mentions of the word “remember”. God remembers us, but we also remember truths about God. In Psalm 103 we see so many things we can give thanks to God for – remembering helps strengthen our faith!Â

In the first five verses of Psalm 103 we read so many things God has done for us. He has forgiven our sins, heals our broken hearts, redeems our life from darkness, crowns us with steadfast love and mercy, satisfies us with good, and renews our strength. We can sing with the psalmist: Bless His holy name!
I invite you to invest five-ten minutes of your day to remembering. Tomorrow morning you’ll probably make a to-do list. Before you write your first task, write one thing about God.
âś” God is faithful.
âś” God is with me.
âś” God is my Shepherd.
âś” God gives wisdom.
âś” God never changes.
5 Simple Ways to Remember God’s Faithfulness Every Day

If you want more ideas on how to remember God’s faithfulness, try one of these!
1. Write one answered prayer in a notebook.
Even a single sentence becomes a reminder of God’s faithfulness.
2. Read one Psalm every morning.
Let God’s Word shape what you remember.
3. Attach gratitude to an everyday routine.
While folding laundry or making coffee, thank God for three blessings.
4. Keep one verse where you’ll see it often.
Your planner, phone wallpaper, bathroom mirror, or dashboard are great places.
5. End your day by remembering one way God helped you today.
A life with God begins by remembering who He is and what He has done.
Tomorrow morning you’ll probably make another to-do list. Before you write “Call the dentist” or “Pick up groceries,” write one more thing.
God is faithful.
Before you remember everything you need to do, remember who God is. A Christian morning routine includes remembering! Because a life with God begins not with accomplishing more—but with remembering more of Him.
Weekly Practice:
Write down three ways God has been faithful to you.
Before you remember everything you need to do today, remember who God is. (Make this an image)
