A Savior for the Broken

Although Trick-or-Treat was just over, I’m still thinking about the dressing up and the smiling faces. A few of my real-life friends have experienced some deep loss in the past few years. Husbands. Fathers. Children. All gone to death way too soon. Death can be so inconvenient. We are left behind to pick up pieces of our hearts and move on, aren’t we? My grandmother died on Oct. 31. So it is a hard day for me. But my kids were still smiling through their sugar high and I couldn’t help but smile as well.

Smiling through our brokenness is hard, isn’t it? The most “smiling” time of year is just around the corner and we can’t escape the green and red garland with sparkling lights. I remember my grandmother never really decorated with lights outside after my grandfather passed away, but I do remember her tree. It stood in the corner of her living room right in front of the window. The colored lights could be seen from the street through the sheer curtains hanging down. I can still picture her little fake tree, with the plastic icicle ornaments. Do you remember those?

Celebrating in a broken and torn world is something we as Christians are called to do, even if its hard. Making transitions into new traditions isn’t easy. In fact, as our family faces some major life changes in the next couple of years, we are trusting Jesus to meet us in the broken, hard parts of life. Isn’t that why He came?

During the summer a friend of mine, Keri, emailed me about an idea she had for Christmas. She wanted to create and advent reading devotional book for moms. Her desire was to have several writers come together and write about how Jesus came for our brokenness. After months of planning, working behind the scences, and lots of text messages back and forth, I’m so happy to say it is HERE!

PDF VERSION

You can purchase the PDF version of the devotional, which includes a TON of bonuses (see below). Keri and I wanted to create something for busy moms who might not have a ton of time in the busy holiday season, but wanted to remind you to look to Jesus. Each person who contributed their story spoke from their heart and I know you will be blessed…each woman so beautiful shared how Jesus heals, binds up, and speaks into our broken mess.
