Monday Morning Blues {3}
Grab your coffee for five minutes. Here are some thoughts to help you get over your Monday Morning Blues.
You did it again.
That sin you swore you would never do.
Again.
That one little big thing you’ve confessed before.
Exactly 1,809,567 times.
The temptation came and you gave in.
Before you even had a chance to make the choice.
Again.
Now, it is a new week and you want to do better. You vow to do better. But then you think back to last Monday. You promised and prayed and asked for help. But here you are. Starting over and regretting the choices again.
Is His forgiveness enough? Can you start a new week with hope? Where do we start when we’ve messed up again?
I John 1:9 – “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
We know that verse so well. We skim over it and nod our heads. Today. On this Monday. Let the TRUTH sink into your heart? Let the WORD renew and refresh you.
If we confess our sins…..tell God. If you sinned against another human, tell that person as well. Shoot them an email. Send a text. Call them on the phone. Or look across the table. Confess. Admit you were wrong. There might not be tears, but there must be remorse. That’s it. Your part is over. Confession is all you must do.
He is faithful….No matter how many times you have sinned (even the SAME SIN), God remains faithful. Sin does not affect God’s faithfulness. He will always forgive. Always. Just as the sun will always rise in the morning, God will always be faithful. Rest in His Faithfulness.
And just….He does not just slide our sin under a rug. It was dealt with. The price was paid. At the cross. Jesus died and rose again so that you could have your sins forgiven. Do not take God’s forgiveness lightly. It cost Him the life of His Son. He is still just, even in His forgiveness. Rest in His justice.
To forgive us our sins…He will do it. Believe it. Claim it. This is a truth the enemy does not want you to know. GOD FORGIVES YOUR SINS. Cling to this truth as guilt tries to eat away at your heart. Fight the guilty with knowledge. You have the truth: God is merciful. He has forgiven you. He is forgiving you. He will forgive you. Past tense. Present Tense. Future Tense. Rest in His forgiveness…..today.
And to cleanse us….He not only forgives, He washes us clean. He gets rid of the guilt. He makes us new. We are not stained forever by the black of our sin. God washes us, better than Tide and our dirty clothes. Rest that He is the one who will cleanses us. We don’t have to do the cleaning. He does. That’s His job.
From all unrighteousness….All means all. There is NO sin too great or too small that God doesn’t forgive and cleanse.
Finally, I want you to rejoice. I am rejoicing this week. Last week God revealed a horrible sin I was harboring in my heart. Although my heart was grieved, and I spent a lot of time confessing it to Him, I rejoiced. Why can we rejoice when God shows us our sin? Because He loves us. If we are to walk in the light (I John 1: 7), we cannot have darkness lingering around. God is a God of light (I John 1:5). He does not desire us to walk in darkness, and sin brings only darkness. This week, will you join me in walking in the light? Start by confessing. Then start resting.
Confess your sin and let Him cleanse you.
Do you have a sin you are harboring? Repent. Find forgiveness. Let Him cleanse you.
