31 Days {Offer}
{Offer}
What do you have to offer? Maybe not the world. Maybe not all of the people you even know…..what do you have to offer those around you?
As a stay-at-home mom, feeling like we have nothing to offer is a common feeling. I’m home most days. All day long. Homeschooling is a little isolating as well. I look around at my messy house and wonder what I have to offer. I look around at my messy life and wonder what I have to offer as well. I know how to wash dishes. Clean laundry. Cook meals. Make beds. Wash babies. Change diapers.
Going from being a teaching specialists, where I was an important part of the education of many children to being at home with a small baby, felt….hard. Felt different. I went from IEP meetings and planning sessions and speaking in front of a group of kids, to nursing in the middle of the night. It seemed all I used to have to offer was gone. How my heart hurt to think all of those years in college and I only spent two years using my degree.
Here I am, seven years later realizing I am more than just a teacher. I drove the old road to where I used to teach tonight. Seven years ago I never imagined what life could hold. I was more than teacher now. I realized, even as a teacher, what I had to offer wasn’t just my abilities to teach.
What I had then, I have still now (maybe a little better after these few years)….
I have {imperfect} friendship to offer.
I have a {messy} house for company to offer.
I have love and laughter to offer.
I have a listening ear to offer.
I have a meal to offer.
I have compassion, sympathy, and empathy to offer.
I have prayers. I have my Savior. I have all of that to offer.
As you think about your life, and the different seasons coming and going, what do you feel you have to offer? Are there tangible things you can offer those around you? Are there intangible things to offer?
You are more than what you think you can offer if your life is found in Christ.
