31 Days {Patience}
{Patience}
Let’s not pray for patience. For we know our God will give us people for which to be patient. Let’s not ask for patience, for these people will come into our lives who will demand we be patience with them. We want the virture, but not the work.
There is no virtue without the work. And yes, patience is a virtue. Not a high and lofty virtue never to be gained. We are called to bear the fruit of patience. The fruit of love, joy, and patience. Long-suffering. Suffering is all I seem to be having when it comes to patience.
It takes a little work to harvest patience. Just as the beautiful orange tree in our sunroom does not yield its fruit without tender care, so we cannot assume to just wake up one morning to find patience hanging from our hearts. Ready to be plucked. Ready to be given.
Patience takes time.
The Son and the Water of His word will need to do their work. Soaking in both will help patience grow in my heart.
Abiding in the True Vine will bear the fruit. For without Him we are nothing. We have nothing without Him, our Vine. We are the branches, and if patience is to grow and flower, we must draw from the lifeblood of the Vine.
Patience takes the Father’s tender care. Sometimes that means pruning. Our Husbandman will prune the branches not bearing fruit. So we must allow Him to keep pruning the edges of us not bearing patience.
Let the fruit of patience grow in your heart. Keep praying for the Lord to grow the fruit. In the quiet seasons fruit grow. Dig in. Hide in Him. And trust that when we blossom, our beautiful fruit will be ready. Patience will grow, if I let Him work in my heart.
