31 Days {Storm}
{Storm}
As the sky grows dark, the rain drops begin to drop. One at a time. Only a few. Then a few more. More and more until a downpour. The thunder roars in the distance. Lightening lights up the sky. Storms in life sometimes come upon us by surprise. We are having fun playing and laughing in the sunshine, then suddenly we find the sun is gone and we are alone with the wind and the rain. We run inside and try to hide our hearts. We fear the hurt or pain that storms sometimes bring. We hide away. Afraid to love or give. We hold our hearts safe inside our walls.
But our hearts are not safe from the storm inside ourselves. We cannot stay safe from the storms of life by hunkering down and waiting it out. The wind whips around us and we must stand firm. In the midst of the storm, still loving. Still giving. Still living. We cannot wait until the storm is over before we begin to love and know love.
We can stand firm because we have something solid to stand on. Him. Our God is our rock. Our fortress. Our refuge. A place to not just feel safe, but to be safe during a storm of life. We can stand on His love. He holds our hearts. We are safe with Him as we reach out and love to others. He is our provider. We don’t have to be afraid to give during a time of darkness. As we give, He gives back to us. Whether we give peace, kindness, goodness, or our time…..He will always be our provider.
Our storms will not last. How we live during our storms defines who we will be once they are over.
