How Busy Moms Flourish in the Summer

How will you flourish this summer?

As a momma of five kids, I wonder sometimes if I can get anything done during the summer. Pool days, park fun, play dates, and promises to go outside keep me from my own to-do list. Recently at church our pastor mentioned something I want to start this summer.

Make a Will-Do List.

What will you promise to do this summer?
What kinds of things would you like to do, but feel like you “don’t have time”?
What things do you really want to do?

Making a “will-do” list isn’t about things we hope to do, but things we will do. We will make these things a priority. My “will-do” list consist of this:

  1. I will read God’s Word and pray at least 5 times a week.
  2. I will organize one family activity a week, something simple.
  3. I will exercise 3 times a week.
  4. I will read to my children once a day.
  5. I will write a new study this summer.

These are not wish-lists, but “will-do” lists. What would be on your will-do list? I’d love to know, so comment below. Busy moms can flourish! We can let go of the guilt of doing it all, and simple just do a few simple things. And we can especially flourish when we put God first.

Flourishing reminds me of Psalm 1:3:

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Who is this man (or woman)? It is some who “delights” in God’s Word (Psalm 1:2). Is God’s word on your list for this summer? How will you spend time in God’s Word? Below I’ve provided the first three days FREE for my Summer of Psalms study. You can download a copy here.
