Does God Really Rescue?

October 19, 2020 / Loneliness

Does God Really Rescue?

Oh dear, friend. Maybe you are asking, “Does God Really Rescue?” You are not forgotten. I can’t say that enough. You are NOT forgotten. God sees you. Just as God saw Noah, God sees you! We know God was in Noah’s life. God did not forget Noah while the storm raged and when the waters were still flooding the earth.  Sometimes God doesn’t say why we have be alone, only that while we are alone we are remembered. Say this with me, God remembers me. God sees me. God has not forsaken me. In Genesis 8:1 it says God remembered Noah. Not only did God remember Noah, God sent a wind to blow away the storm.

One thing I know for sure is that storms don’t last. The grief will be bearable, the pain will ease, the world might turn around again. What I love about Genesis 8:1 is that it says after God remembered Noah, He sent a “wind” to blow over the earth. The word for “wind” is a Hebrew word that could mean “breath of heaven.” It could even mean the Spirit of God. The same word is used in Genesis 1:2 when it says the “Spirit of God” moved upon the face of the waters. God sent the Holy Spirit to blow away the storm from Noah’s life!

Today that same Spirit lives within us!  The Hebrew word for “wind” in Genesis 8:1 is also found in Ezekiel 11:19, which says, “And I {God} will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh” (emphasis mine KJV). This Spirit which Noah felt as the storm blew away is the same Spirit promised to us in Ezekiel 11:19 and fulfilled in the coming of the Holy Spirit to our lives today. This Spirit lives in our hearts (Ephesians 4:24) and has made us new creatures. (2 Corinthians 5:17)

The Spirit Rescues

Loneliness doesn’t get the final word. God is not only rescuing you, but sending you His spirit to live inside your heart. You are not alone because the Spirit of God lives in you and rescues you. First, He has rescued you from your sin. Next, the Spirit rescues you from your old self. Also, the Spirit rescues you to comfort you. Finally, the Spirit rescues you to pray for you.

Did you know the Holy Spirit prays for you? Loneliness lies and tells us no one cares. The Holy Spirit cares! He cares so much that He is continually praying for you. Paul in Romans says, “The Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.” Romans 8:26-27
