Prayers for Thanksgiving
Prayers for Thanksgiving
Prayer is so important, but we often don’t know what to pray. Let me help you! You can copy and use these prayers as you think about all of the things you can thank God for this week.
Celebrating God’s goodness and provision in our lives keeps our hearts focused on the beautiful aspects of this life. It is easy to see the dark, disturbing, and fearful news all of the time. It is easy to get sucked into the comparison game on social media. But when we lift our hearts up to God in praise we can easily set aside fear and comparison and see joy again! I hope you will take a moment to pray these prayers to God.
Prayers for Thanksgiving
Dear Heavenly Father, who gives us all good gifts. I give you thanks today for the gift of Your Son. Jesus was our Savior because You gave Him to us. If you would give us such a gift as this, how can we not sing Your praises!? We will spend our lives giving you thanks for this amazing gift of salvation. Thank you Father, for the Son. Amen. “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9
Dear Father, Thank you for all you have given to us. We are so grateful for our salvation, but each and every good gift you have lavished on us. From the very breath from our lungs to the beautiful sunshine. Even in the rain we give thanks. No matter what, you are with us and will never leave us. Amen. “The blessing of the Lord makes rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.” Proverbs 10:22
Dear Jesus, Thank you for the gift of salvation. Thank you for your sacrifice. We praise your Holy Name forever and ever for the Lamb who was slain. You took our place, from a heart filled with grace and love, we cannot praise you enough. Amen! “Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.” Philippians 2:12–13
Dear God, our provider and friend. Thank you for always giving us what we need. Sometimes we are tempted to look around and make a list of things we do not have. Let us turn that around today and give thanks and rejoice in all that you have given us! I pray we can make a list and continue to give you thanks for the ways you have always provided and will continue to provide for us. Amen. “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want, He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” Psalm 23:1-3
