31 Days {Silence}

{Silence}

Not all silence is golden. Any mom of young children knows that silence means trouble! Sometimes I crave silence with how loud my house can become! Late at night, when all is quiet, I finally take a breath. I inhale the silence. I exhale the weight of the world.

My outward life is so noisy, but my inward life doesn’t have to be. I am constantly seeking to be silent with my relationship with God. I crave to be able to sit and prayer, in my heart it seems the noise comes from worry and stress. I have so many “windows of my brain” open at once. I can’t seem to shut it all down to even think.

Prayer is my avenue to find a rest filled and silent heart. I take deep breaths. I close my eyes and open my heart. I let the Lord speak through His Word. I sit and listen. Ask Him to speak to me. Only when my heart is quiet do I hear His voice.

Only when my life is quiet can I find peace and rest. It is time I spend some more time just in prayer. Prayer more than just an exercise, it is the very lifeblood of a Christian. Prayer is my lifeline to my Father. A place where I can be still and find His presence.

Silence might not be possible in my house with little boys especially. Silence of my heart is something that is possible. It is possible for me to find the quiet, even when my life is loud.

Lord, let me trust you more. Let me come to you first. O God, my Savior, may you quiet my soul and heart so that I can hear your voice. Open my eyes to see what You see. Let me find a peace in the silence of prayer. The silence of the heart. Amen.
