What do I value?
I’d like to say I value people. Relationships. But does my life reflect this?
Do I rush through life, forgetting birthdays and forgetting milestones?
Am I too busy to call that friend from long ago and just talk. If I wait until the perfect time to connect, we will stay distant.
I want to really live like I value the important things. The eternal things. God’s Word. People. Those are the only two things that will last forever. Do I value these two things?
Am I just living the comfortable life? With my house. My car. My children in a safe neighborhood.
What does that show to them? How will they learn sacrifice and how to love people if they don’t see me doing it first?
O Lord,my God, I want to value the the things You value. I want to love what You love. I want to seek after those things that are heavenly. May I see people as valuable enough to go out of my way.
May I see His Word valuable enough to give up my nap time to read His Word.
May I see people as valuable enough to get off social media and actually reach out. Not even just a text. Not even a card. But take that person out to lunch. Send them a gift. Look them in the eyes.
May I see the truly valuable people living right now in my home.
May I see my husband as truly valuable by connecting with him on the couch in the evenings.
May I see my children as truly valuable by giving up a little of my dreams to connect with them.
May I see God’s Word as the move valuable treasure by actually spending time hiding it in my Heart.
