The Five Steps to a Power-Full Mind
Both times my husband and I went to China to adopt our two children, we climbed the Great Wall as part of the trip. I remember the first time I caught a glimpse of the Great Wall from the tour bus as we pulled into the parking lot. It wound around the mountain, going what seemed like straight up. As we climbed up the steps to the first landing, I felt my heart race with excitement and little bit of fatigue. We looked around to enjoy the view. Taking all of the pictures and trying to soak in the amazing history and sense of place. We were on the Great Wall!
The first time, we didn’t have a child with us, so of course we wanted to climb to the top of this particular section of the Great Wall. The first few steps were easy. We were excited, and the terrain wasn’t as steep. The first landing had a watch tower. We looked inside, caught our breath and continued on. The next section of steps were a little steeper and tougher. We continued on. Step by step. One step at a time. I realized as we got closer to the top, we began literally climbing. The steps were so far apart, and steep: straight up!
We finally made it, completely out of breathe and exhausted, but we did it. One step at a time. When we want to change something in our life, we sometimes look at the top, like I did with the Great Wall. I felt like I could never reach that far. But if we take steps, simple, small steps, change will happen.
That is one of the main things I love about Micah’s book, Anchored In. I met Micah a couple of years ago at a writer’s conference. After that, she agreed to mentor me with my writing and publishing journey. Through it all, she has become more than just a friend to give advice, she has become someone I deeply admire – as a person, and someone who knows a lot about God’s power in her life.
In the chapter called, “Power in the Mind” Micah encourages us to take these simple steps to overcoming lies and frustrations which keep us from experiencing God’s power in our life.
She says we need to….
Pray over it.
Identify it.
Obey.
Stop it
Replace it.
If negative thoughts are clouding your mind, take a step back and begin looking forward. I would encourage you to get Micah’s book, Anchored In: Experience a Power-Full Life in a Problem-Filled World to encourage, equip, and allow your heart to see God’s power – right now! She expands all of these steps in her book, and I especially love the last section: replace it. In it, she gives scripture we can use to replace the feelings and lies from the enemy.
The book contains amazing discussion questions you can answer, powerful prayers, and deep personal stories straight from Micah’s life. It will be a life-changing book, I promise. Our world will always be filled with problems, but we can be filled with power – God’s Power. What a promise!?
As a special treat, Micah is allowing me to giveaway TWO signed copies of her book to TWO lucky winners! Enter below to win – and of course I always throw in a couple of bonuses. This time, they are SURPRISE bonuses, but I can tell you they are worth over $50! Make sure to share this book with your friends, your mom, sisters, or anyone else in your life who needs God’s power. The giveaway ends soon!

I love Micah’s words of wisdom here regarding the ‘Power of the Mind’. We tend to focus on the trauma more often than replacing it with the truth of God.
Thank you Sarah for the brief description of Micah’s book as well 🙂
Continued blessings to both of you.

Visiting the Great Wall of China is a dream of mine. When we studied it in my 2nd grade classroom, I was enthralled by it. Thank you for the chance to win a copy of Micah’s book.
