40 of the Best Verses to Memorize

40 of the Best Verses to Memorize

Although 2020 isn’t continuing like I had planned. And let’s be honest. Maybe nothing you had planned is playing out as you might have foreseen. Life is like that, isn’t it? The constant change, cancelling, the unknown, the fear, and the hype isn’t new. When have we, as humans, had a worry-free life? It just seems with the news we all are worried about the same thing now. We gather together now and have common worries.

“There is nothing new under the sun,” the Preacher said in Ecclesiastes 1:9.

The worries are the same, but it also means that God is the same. The same throne. The same listening ear. The same Sovereignty over all of the world. In our time of worldly worry, we worship the same wonderful God. One practical step I’ve seen help my worrisome heart is to memorize scripture.

Memorizing is hard work. I’ve been working on the same chapter in the Bible for three months. I’m about halfway through with about 12 verses memorized. I try to look over my verses each night before bed, but I have yet to make it a habit.

Maybe you want to start memorizing, but don’t know where to start? Here is a list of some of my favorite verses. Which ones have you memorized? Which verses would you add to this list? Let me know in the comments I’d love to add to my list!
