Let’s Read the Bible: Ezra
Let’s Read the Bible: Ezra
Have you ever felt like God was calling you to do something, but it seemed too hard? You are in good company. Ezra, a priest and man of God, knew God was asking him to do something big – but it seemed too big! Ezra finds that God equips those He calls.
Read Ezra with us! For the month of September the “Let’s Read the Bible” community is reading through Ezra. You can join our Facebook group here and get instant access to a free Bible reading plan for Ezra! You will love this group. With over 900 members, we are reading God’s word together! Each week we cheer each other on – and occasionally I go live with tips for how to read the Bible – even with a crazy busy life.
Whether you want to join us this month, or not, I encourage you to read the book of Ezra. Sometimes we skip over these books in the Old Testament because we don’t quite know what is going on. That’s why I created the “Bible Reading & Study Guides”! Each guide is only $10, but you get over 30 pages of material to help you read this book of the Bible. Download the guide here.
With Ezra, I teamed up with my friend Jen. She is a wife, mom, speaker, and writer who also happens to have Bipolar II. Jen is exploring how mental health and faith intersect. She has over ten years experience teaching the Bible and a Master’s in Biblical Counseling from Westminster Theological Seminary. You can find her most often on Instagram and on her podcast Head & Heart wherever you listen to podcasts.
She shares her knowledge of Ezra with us and show us how this book reminds us of God’s covenant faithfulness. Because of God’s promise to David that the Redeemer would come through his line, we see God redeeming His people over and over again in the Old Testament until the time of Jesus’ birth. Israel was punished and put into exile because of their unfaithfulness to God, but God was never unfaithful to Israel. The fact that God never abandons His covenant with Israel, no matter their unfaithfulness, is a beautiful glimpse into God’s character. We can also trust that He is a promise keeping God and will keep us till the end.
