Bible Study on Moses
Bible Study on Moses
One year ago I released my very first traditionally published book, I Didn’t Sign Up for This.
The past year I’ve walked through the last chapter of this book. The last chapter is called “Stepping Into the Unknown Future.” Did you know I wrote that last chapter at my mom’s house? We were living with my parents at the time because we had just been told we had to leave the mission field. All of our belongings were in Honduras, we had no idea if Jason would have a job or where we would live.
I suddenly had to live the message of my own book:
Let me remember. I wrote those words in my journal just three weeks after we were told we had to leave Honduras. My heart was grieving, hurting, and in anguish, as Psalm 77:10 says. Instead of giving in to the bitterness, anger, and pain, I shifted my heart to remember truth about God.
Moving Forward and Looking Back
You and I don’t have to stay in our questions, worries, or disappointment. But moving forward might involve looking back. What can you remember about God? How has He worked in your own life previously? Where did God show up for you in the past?
I’ll admit I had a hard time writing down things to remember about God. At the time of the hurt, all I could recall were times when I felt alone, abandoned, unloved, or rejected. Our friend Moses helps us in Deuteronomy. The entire book is a collection of Moses’s last words to the people. It says he spoke these words to the people on the fortieth year of their wandering in the desert, right before they entered the Promised Land (Deut. 1:3).
What kinds of things did Moses tell them to remember?
In the book I lay out some things Moses learned while traveling with the Israelites through the wilderness. If you would like a deep dive into the life of Moses, check out my book on Moses here.
Here are some of the things people have said about it:
