It is about our daily life in the Word. Jesus is ready to meet us here. If you have five minutes to scroll through Facebook, you have five minutes to spend in the Word!
Dear Lord, I pray you will guide our minds and hearts for even the next few minutes. Draw us close to You. As we open your Word, let the Holy Spirit guide us to truth. Amen.
Let’s talk about……
the Holy Spirit.
The third person of the Trinity is often the forgotten God. We miss His work by simply forgetting Who He is and what He is doing in our lives. I find it is a wonderful opportunity while we study prayer this month to discover the Holy Spirit’s work during our sweet hour of prayer….
The Father and Jesus Christ the Son of God both definitely meet us when we close our eyes and whisper our hearts to heaven. In fact, Jesus our High Priest is the reason we can come to God’s throne with CONFIDENCE.
But did you know Someone else is VITAL when it comes to prayer? Not only does the Spirit allow us access to God through faith, He is praying for you! As we study Romans 8 we can see at least SIX WAYS the Holy Spirit prays for us! Find 5 minutes to spend time in God’s Word today and fill in the blanks on the printable devotional. You can also keep scrolling to discover the six ways the Holy Spirit prays for you. (Download your own 5-Minute Devotional here.)
READ Romans 8:
26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. 27 And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. 28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. 29 For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30 And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified. 31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? 33 Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?….No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The Holy Spirit prays for us…..
- ….in a POWER we don’t own. (verse 26a…..Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness…..)
- ….with WISDOM we lack. (verse 26b…..or we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us…)
- ….in MERCY we could never fathom. (verse 33…..who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.)
- ….with a CONNECTION we don’t possess. (verses 35…..Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?….)
- ….in STRENGTH unimaginable. (verse 37….No, in all things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.)
- ….with LOVE we can’t muster up. (verses 39b….Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?….nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.)
