5 Minute Prayers for Hope
5 Minute Prayers for Hope
One of the things God has taught me over the years has been to pray for the things I want. I’m not talking about having a genie in the bottle. I’m not talking about asking God for things. I’m saying we need to ask for the things God wants to give us. If you know me a little bit you know I very much believe in the sovereignty of God. In fact, I pretty much have surrendered to the idea that God is the ultimate sovereign in my life. So it felt weird asking God to give these things when He could without me asking.
There are too many commands in scripture to pray. I cannot ignore the fact that God wants us to pray! God wants us to ask! Just look at Luke 11:1-13. God commands us to ask!
As we move slowly into 2021, not really sure as to what is going to happen, maybe we are searching for some hope. So I wrote four 5 minute prayers for hope. Each one can be prayed in five minutes or less. I believe they can be a blessing to you.
5 Minute Prayers for Hope
Lord, I feel as if the world is a little crazy. I mean we are all searching for certainty. The world and all it holds only offers false hope. A new year won’t give me hope. A new job, friends, life, nothing can give me the real hope I need. I need hope I can really hope in! And that hope is found in You, O God. I want to hope but I want to hope in the right things. I am tempted to think the flip of the calendar will change my life. In all honesty I know this life is going to be just as crazy. So in the next year I want to hope in You. I want to know you are leading me, guiding me, and protecting me. I can’t run your hope! Amen.
Oh Father, let me seek the hope that doesn’t put me to shame. Let me hope in the things I know to be true. Let me hope in your steadfast love. For this love is unending. I can hope in the promises of your word because they have never failed me yet! All my hope is in You, Oh Father. And so today I want to praise You. I want to praise you that I can have hope today. I might feel hopeless. My life might look like hope has left. But God, you are here to tell me that all my hope is in Jesus! All of my hope is in the fact that my past is gone. All of my sins are forgiven because of the work of Jesus on the cross. All of my hope is in the Father. For it was Your love. Father, which called me out of the prison of darkness and sin. You set me free and I praise you that all of my hope is in you! All of my hope is in the Spirit. The Holy Spirit comforts me in my pain, brings to mind your word and I praise You for the work of the Spirit in my life. All of my hope is in You! Amen.
Jesus, I need some hope tonight. Let me hold tight to the hope found in you. On the cross you bled and died for my sins. You suffered the pain, the heartache, and the death for me. Everything felt lost and the day was dark. Only in the hidden places you were fighting for me. You were there securing my salvation. What seemed like a hopeless cause, you were up there dying on the cross.. It was not the end. My hope is alive today. Jesus, you are my hope. Whatever I am facing today, I have hope alive in You! Hope is alive today! Jesus you rose again on the third day so my hope is alive. Let me cling to this promise. Let me hold fast to the resurrection. For in the truth of this is the reason I can have hope! God you were fighting for us so we can have hope. Let me live in that hope today. Amen.
Nothing in this world feels right right now, O God. I wonder if you have left me alone. But Your word promises to not leave me without hope. I pray I will trust that you will not leave me without salvation. Your hope is real. Your hope is sure and steadfast. The world only holds disillusionment and pain. So I want to put my hope in You, O God. I can go to the ends of the earth and I will never find the hope I need. So let me take your word and find hope today. As I walk through my days, I pray you will remind me to hope in You. When life is hard, I hope in you. When people are unfair and unkind, I hope in you. When pain is my constant companion, I hope in You. Amen.
