Several years ago I found myself in a deep, dark place. Depression had floated into my life like a black cloud. I tried all of the things to “do” – prayed more, studied more, served more. None of that helped during that season.

Only when I began to live one day at a time did I realize that certain seasons aren’t about outward growth at all. That dark season was about planting seeds. Even though I struggled with depression (mostly at night) I still sought the Lord. My feelings were fickle.
One day I would feel great. The next day, not so much. Over time and after reaching out for help, I began to see the light again. It was mostly God’s Word, but other things helped as well. I realized God’s love, acceptance, and peace were not found in “doing” anything, but just simply believing He would answer my prayers.
The dark seasons caused me to have to look to God on a daily basis. I had to cling to His promises daily, trusting that each day there would be enough to keep going. Over time, my faith grew and God continued to grow me. Today I can see the fruit of that time, but it took time.
Finding God in the Grow-Through Seasons
Growth takes time, especially if we are in a season of “darkness.” Peace and rest do not have to be at the end of the season, they can be found here. Right now. I don’t know what you are growing through….yes, not just go-through this season, but grow-through this season! No matter what, God is walking with you.
